How to set up MetaMask

Since our token is now also available on Uniswap, the world’s leading decentralized exchange, we have prepared a guide on how to buy it from your Ethereum wallet, which you can read here.

If you don’t have an Ethereum wallet yet, this guide is for you. Here, we will explain how to install and set up MetaMask, the most popular Ethereum wallet, which is available as a browser extension for all major browsers.

Step 1: Install the MetaMask extension

Install the MetaMask wallet from their official website.

When you have it installed, click the MetaMask icon in your browser to open it, and then click “Get started.”

Step 2: Create a new wallet

Click “Create a Wallet” to create a new Ethereum wallet.

Create a wallet password, which encrypts your private key. While this is important, you can still recover your wallet using your seed phrase even if you forget your password.

Then, click on the gray area to reveal your seed phrase and back it up somewhere safe. This is absolutely crucial, since if someone gets access to your seed phrase, they can steal your tokens.

We recommend writing down the seed phrase on a piece of paper and then storing it somewhere where it can’t be accessed by anyone else. Don’t back it up anywhere on your computer or phone, since this is not as secure.

Finally, confirm your seed phrase by selecting the words in the correct order.

Step 3: Buy or deposit ETH or other tokens

Now that you have your wallet, you can store any Ethereum tokens on it. We recommend getting some ETH into the wallet first, as you will need ETH to pay for the transaction fees when sending any other token or trading on Uniswap.

To deposit ETH from an exchange, withdraw ETH from your exchange wallet to your MetaMask address (click (1) to automatically copy the address into the clipboard). You can also buy ETH directly from MetaMask (2), and ETH as well as any other added tokens will show up in your balance (3). To learn how to add other tokens, such as NWC, refer to our Uniswap trading guide.
